Carol Hernandez

The intention for my art is to help raise money for 3 charities: The Fender Music Foundation because I have been enriched by music all my life and known the joy of being able to play the piano since I was 6. And because I am an animal lover who happens to be an artist: The Cheetah Conservation Fund and The Cloud Foundation. Art Giving Back.

When I make art my intention is to create an iconic image, which evokes a positive response. To create an energetic vibration of color which on one level brings people together by consensus and also on an individual level, evoking feelings, memories, wishes, or dreams.

I work from my studio in rural Monte Nido, California.

I begin by using one or many of my photographs as a reference. Using multiple layers of paint, pencil and pastel I build my paintings slowly using color to create a painting that becomes evocative of my subject.

Education:
Carol Hernandez received a degree in Photographic Illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology. She was able to view first hand works by Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet and many other old master paintings during her tenure at the J. Paul Getty Museum. At the Getty she managed the creation of the high-resolution digital archive of the museum's art collection. Hernandez has studied with many recognized master artists such as David Leffel, Simon Combes and Laddie John Dill.
