"My goal is to create an energetic vibration of color which on one level brings people together by consensus and also on an individual level, evoking feelings, memories, wishes, or dreams."

Carol Hernandez describes her work as "Natural Symbolism." Creating an iconic image which invokes a visceral response. She works from her studio in rural Monte Nido, California.

Carol's work begins with one of her original photographs used as a reference. Using multiple layers of paint, pencil and pastel she builds her paintings slowly using color to create a painting that becomes evocative of her subject.

Carol Hernandez received a degree in Photographic Illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology. She was able to view first hand works by Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet and many other old master paintings during her tenure at the J. Paul Getty Museum. At the Getty she managed the creation of the high-resolution digital archive of the museum's art collection. Hernandez has studied with many recognized master artists such as David Leffel, Simon Combes and Laddie John Dill.
