Jubilo Music and Arts Festival

Challenge:
Jubilo Music and Arts Festival was an small multi-genre two-day musical event held in Richmond, Kentucky at Fort Boonesborough State Park that I helped to organize and promote, as well as brand. My challenge was to create a unique and impactful brand strong enough to maintain a minimum level of brand recognition where an ad budget was nonexistent.

Solution:
Since the event was multi-genre I chose to use a script font to achieve an immediate association with hippie and festival culture. The event was to be on a state park so we emphasized a vibrant, bright green over the contrast of a dark blue, and with highlights of yellow to provide depths and make the design pop even at small sizes. Certain elements were such as the “u,” (which was meant to look like a jester hat or jubilant person), were pulled out to create a new icon which was used for additional branding of items without the full name. The t-shirt and ticket/ticket booklet designs are pure concepts which were ultimately never produced.

Denouement:
After a lackluster attendance the first year based on an overzealous attendance estimation, the woman in charge ultimately burned her house down and stole all the money, but that’s a different story.
