Challenge:
Near Surface Geophysics Inc works regionally in the eastern midwest consulting mainly with large construction companies and needed branding and a website to more effectively establish themselves as a leader in the industry. Branding needed to look strong and technologically advanced for contractors.

Solution:
With the branding we wanted to focus on the idea of discovery and highlighting of previously unknown information, with a modern forward-thinking look.

One of the services that they offer, which is unique compared to others in this field regionally, is electro-resistivity testing of the local ground. This involves firing an electrical impulse into the ground and measuring the returning signals bouncing off varying densities of rock. Upon further evaluation of the reports that NSGI provided to clients, I found this testing provides a wide range of graphic readouts completely unique to the particular underground geophysical situation.

To create the logo I took one of these real readouts and modified it to be cleaner and more striking, and added dynamic contrasting colors to add sharp interest. To further communicate the process I added white lines to crudely indicate how the electro-resistivity testing basically works by bouncing off rocks.

The website highlights the idea of “discovering what’s below the surface” with dramatic full-background photo reveals as visitors scroll. The colors from the logo that indicated the range of rock densities were used in the navigation to indicate the range of options and services available. View live website at http://nsginnovations.com/
