Resonance 2017

Created for Resonance Music and Arts Festival in 2017 this piece utilized the lone tree in a large field and several anchored wooden poles to create a temporary frame using paracord. The piece was initially woven with two colors – orange and green, one on each side and meeting at the center – and grew and morphed throughout the weekend with the help of patrons.

The first night, a ball of pink yarn was left at the center of the piece and a patron gently draped the yarn around the piece, creating a contrast to the hard lines of the original installation. The piece grew more throughout the weekend with more yarn and more people contributing to its construction. multicolored balls of yarn were left and people were encouraged to make their own alterations to the whim of their creativity and without limitations.

In my experience observing visitors, people seemed to have a great time trying to figure out how to manipulate the piece and make changes. People stayed in or around the piece each night until sunrise.

Install time: 8hrs, 1 person. 3 days of alterations with contributions from patrons.
