Resonance Music and Arts Festival 2023 – Artist Gallery

As I mention in my other posting this was the last Resonance after 9 years. I brought nearly all of my materials and knew I was going to give this festival a proper send off the best way I knew how – with yarn. So after creating a piece over the Beach Stage with my one-of-a-kind UV laser, I wanted to also properly feature the Artist Gallery area. This was located under a permanent pavilion on the property located adjacent to the Beach Stage and along the back wall different artists featured different originals and prints of their work.

To make the space feel complete, I used some leftover piping with hooks from a previous installation to create a consistent pattern of attachment points along the length of the pavilion on both sides. I then used an alternating pattern of fluorescent green and purple yarn to create a floating ceiling over visitor’s heads. The whole piece was illuminated with fixed UV lights and stayed on all night for people to enjoy.

The entire piece was about 60ft long x 40ft wide.
